Anti Social Use of Vehicles

Inconsiderate use of cars, vans, motorcycles, scooters etc. was a big issue for residents and businesses within Micklefield. Speeding along the ‘top’ section of Micklefield Road was identified as well as the nuisance caused by mini motorbikes in the park areas, on the roads and in the woods. Untaxed vehicles and abandoned cars also caused concerns.

In response to these problems, one of the partners in the NAG- Thames Valley Police, have conducted road checks in the area and other operations aimed at enforcing Road Traffic law and dealing with illegal vehicles. A number of vehicles have been seized due to the driver not being insured or driving without a licence and other offences have been dealt with by the issue of tickets or summonses to Court.

The NAG continues to work on this priority and we invite any information about where current ‘trouble spots’ are and what these problems are.

What about speeding cars, yet another accident on Thursday evening with only one vehicle involved which hit a residents front fence and their neighbours wall. How on earth the lad ended up on the other side of the road begs belief but he did with damage to peoples property. What are you doing about this ever increasing problem?

Thanks for the entry resulting from the accident on Thursday. The Police are working at getting some speed reduction/ enforcement sessions into the area, particularly that stretch of micklefield Road.

A quick update from the Police. Over the last couple of days, 4 warnings have been given in relation to mini moto's and one was seized last night.

A further update-
Another motorcycle was stopped and issued with a warning in Croftwood yesterday afternoon. This was a green off road motorcycle. Not a mini moto but not an adult sized bike either. The user was from the Croftwood area. if anyone sees tgis type of bike in the area, please contact the Police via 08458 505505. This may enable enquiries to be undertaken resulting in the seizure of the bike.

yesterday morning (18/09/2007) Police in conjunction with Bucks County Council carried out a speed enforcement check for 2 hours. As a result 2 drivers were warned re their driving, two received fixed penalty tickets for excess speed and a motorcyclist was reported for summons and his machine siezed.

Today, a further operation was conducted in the area resulting in a number of fixed penalty tickets being issued for various offences, one vehicle siezed and one driver arrested.

In relation to the speed enforcement check, I can only assume this was at the bottom of Micklefield Road due to the large police presence. Why aren't you doing the top part after the roundabout and near the school. Cars and bikes screem up here on a regular basis. Perhaps we ought, in light of there being a school and it also being a residential area, lobby for "20's Plenty" which is occuring in a lot of residential areas and especially around schools.

To clarify re the above the police have explained as follows. The Operation in the morning dealing with Speed was done on the long straight near Corals. The activity as described in the afternoon was an ANPR check dealing with offences such as No TAX, No Insurance, No Licence and any other identified offences. Hope this helps. Thanks

Over the last few weeks there has been a growing problem with mini motorbikes/full sized motorbikes driven by kids in the Woodside Road/Micklefield Road area. They are not wearing helmets and there are usually two if not three kids on these bikes at a time, sometimes as young as two years old. Surely Social Services need to be considering whether these kids parents are capable of caring for them and taking appropriate action. I have reported it to the police but unless there are regular patrols at weekends and around 4pm - 6pm in the week then there is no chance of catching them. I also suggest that a covert police presence is what is required as they just get a kick out of being chased by a patrol car.

what a s**t day

Motorbikes uo and down Hawthorne Road all day as well as in the woods behind Herbert Road/Lance Way

The police know who they are and yet seem unable to do anything, these bikes are not only the mini-moto tyoe but full sized trials bikes as well.

I agree with the previous post that some kind of covert op is required as there are too many "escape routes" to for them to take so as to evade capture.

Police patrol cars are one thing, but that is hardly likely to deter them, as all they have to do is ditch the bikes somewhere and hide for a few minutes.

Surely riding the bikes is illegal, so why not seize them when caught rather than issung a warning which is a total wast eof time.

As for the parents - if you can call them that! - they are obviously unfit to care for them, so take the kids away as well!

Was anybody woken up by the inconsiderate people (I use the term loosely) who were playing thumping bass music from half seven this morning?

Living in Lance Way, all I seem to have heard today is this music from one if the houses in Hawthorne Road. I think it is the same one that kids use to climb over the fence after riding their motor bikes through the woods, - in fact i can see two of the bikes from my flat, but being unable to get out and about easily I am unable to see which house.

Thanks for the recent comments.

To clarify some of the points raised-

The warnings given by Police are a legal requirement. They are not a 'Telling Off' they are part of the required process leading to seizure of machines. Having received a warning, a second incident within 12 months provides seizure powers.

A covert presence sounds like a good idea however, Police need to be in uniform to stop vehicles (again a legal requirement).

We urge residents to 'Name and Shame'. Provide details (names and addresses if possible) of those responsible and the relevant Authorities can then structure their response to this problem more effectively. This site is an ideal location for this informatiion.

I find it difficult to comprehend that TVP are inviting members of the public to post names and addresses of suspects on a public forum. It opens up the very likely possibility of certain people in the community being falsely accused and their reputation being tarnished.
If my local beat officer would actually respond to my e-mails and telephone calls I would provide such details with the privacy that even the delinquents of our society deserve and my claims can be investigate appropriately before individuals are labelled as criminals.

re last post

you can also use the diary provided for this information.

Re the comments above about the providing of information. The police have been asked for their view and the response is below -

Information can come from many avenues and there are strict control measures in place to ensure that malicious information is not acted upon. The internet can be use by anyone to display material and in an anonymous fashion. There are other reporting options such as crimestoppers that allow similar opportunities for passing malicious information. The ideal option for police is to have a signed statement from an individual. If they cannot have that then they would still like the information but know who has provided it. If they cannot have that then as a final option they would like the information anonymously. Better to have it and assess its worth than to not have it at all.

Blogmaster will continue to pass on any relevant information to the correct authorities but if any post should become abusive or inappropriate then it will be considered for removal. We hope this helps.

An update from the police from the weekend states they seized 2 large trials bikes on Saturday and seized a further 2 mini motos on Sunday. In addition two Section 59 warning notices were issued for use of bikes in an anti social manner.

Thanks for the above post. We have advised the police. They cannot take action without some kind of evidence. As such they ask that you contact PC Matt Langridge at Wycombe on 08458 505505. Whilst the police will need to know your details they do have options for completing anonymous statements and taking action. This may well be appropriate in this case. We hope you can assist. If you feel you cannot do this then at the very list please send in an Anti Social Behaviour log to the council (this too can be anonymous). Both the police and council are very keen to help but need some assistance to do so.

Hi,
Re the above - the number is from Bucks County Council and is given as Linda Coleby on 01296 387391. Hope this helps.

Re Jordan. The police have been informed. If able would the author please contact PC Matt Langridge on 08458 505 505 to provide more details. Even if an anonymous statement can be provided they may be able to do something. It would at least be useful to have a description of the bike please. In addition you can call the police at the time and they will do their best to deal. Thanks.

As updated on another thread, one of these bikes was siezed recently. Legislation does not allow for theses machines to be kept by Police but, future use can also result in siezure. The owner of the machine has to pay for its return.

Just found this blog on the net, so happy to be able to speak about the GOLD car that is CONTINUOUSLY wheel spinning and driving at totally unacceptable speeds down Micklefield Road on a daily basis. I was driving down Hicks Farm last night when he was driving up, its a wonder how he can keep control of the car. Not to mention every time he drives past my house my kids are woken up. Is there anything i can do about this? It is getting beyond a joke and someone is going to be seriously hurt soon, hopefully not an innocent by stander!

Hi and thanks for the entry.
We can pass this to the police for you but they could really do with a registration number as long as it is safe for you to get it without being seen. Or you could ring them direct on 08458 505 505, or crimestoppers 0800 555 111. Just ask for details to go to the Micklefield Neighbourhood Team.
